At the Monday, March 7 In-Person Regular Meeting in the Community Center, Councilmembers authorized the purchase and installation of playground equipment at Quail Green West Park; held a public hearing on proposed redistricting maps; and appointed Dr. Joe A. Anzaldua as the City’s Local Health Authority. Here is a rundown of all Council actions at the meeting:
Presentations & Recognitions
- Received a presentation from Rhonda Kuykendall, Texas CASA Anti-Child Trafficking Consultant, Child Advocates of Fort Bend Board Director, and Fort Bend County DA Office Human Trafficking Team Chair on Sex Trafficking in Fort Bend County.
Consent Agenda
- Approved the minutes of the special and regular City Council meetings of Jan. 26 and Feb. 21.
- Authorized the purchase and installation of playground equipment at Quail Green West Park.
- Authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Construction Masters of Houston for the provision of renovation services to remodel Fire Stations Number 3 and Number 4.
- Authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute a contract with Bass Construction Co. for the remodeling of the existing Fire Administration Building.
- Approved an ordinance on the second and final reading, establishing procedures for the consideration of economic development projects within the City; expanding the boundaries of the Texas Parkway/Cartwright Road Façade Improvement Program.
- Approved an ordinance on the second and final reading, amending Chapter 30, Environment, of the Missouri City Code; regulating discharges to the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System; providing a penalty; providing for severability.
Public Hearings & Related Actions
- Held a public hearing on proposed redistricting maps.
- Held a public hearing to receive comments for or against the adoption of the City of Missouri City Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan. The ordinance was approved on the first of two readings.
Appointments
- Appointed Dr. Joe A. Anzaldua as the City’s Local Health Authority.
Authorizations
- Considered the yearly expense of $25,000 with Patterson Veterinary Supply for eligible and needed supplies for Animal Services. This item was pulled from the agenda.
- Authorized the execution of contracts for bond counsel services based on proposed fees.
- Considered the City Manager to negotiate a contract up to an amount of $15,000 for a Public Art mural. This item was voted down by City Council (0/7).
Ordinances
- Approved an ordinance on the first of two readings amending Chapter 10, Animals, of the Missouri City Code of Ordinances; amending the definition of “wild animal;” providing for a penalty.
Resolutions
- Approved a resolution authorizing the execution of settlement release forms for the resolution of certain claims against certain pharmaceutical companies related to the misuse of opioids in the State of Texas.
