CARES Act: Apply Now for up to $15,000 in Grant Funding Through Small Business Assistance Program

Happening

Missouri City’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Small Business Lease/Mortgage Assistance Program is now open and will provide grant funding of up to $15,000 for local small businesses impacted by COVID-19.

These supplemental funds are designed to help businesses remain open and to assist owners and managers with their lease and/or mortgage payments. Applicants will be assisted on a first come, first serve basis, until all funds are accounted for or exhausted.

Interested businesses are encouraged to click the CARES Act Programs graphic below or on the top of the City website homepage to review eligibility requirements and to apply.

As part of the Small Business Assistance program:

  • Grants are available to small businesses for only eligible CARES Act activities like commercial leases or mortgage (principal and interest only).
  • Receipts and documentation for all eligible expenditures must be submitted for audit purposes within 60 days of grant disbursement or funding. Funds dispersed that were not documented would need to be repaid by Dec. 29, 2020.

Small businesses with additional questions may email smallbiz@missouricitytx.gov or contact the CARES Act call center at 281.403.8690. Case managers will be able to assist callers Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 pm.

City Council Members approved an additional $500,000 for the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act Business Grant Program at their Monday, Oct. 5 Virtual Regular Meeting, which increased the total funds for the initiative to $1.5 million.
