COVID-19 UPDATE: All City Parks & Trails, Quail Valley Golf Course to Close During Easter Weekend

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect Southeast Texas, Missouri City officials are taking proactive measures to further assist in slowing the spread of the virus. All City parks and trails will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday, April 9 to 8 a.m. Monday, April 13 to help minimize large gatherings over the holiday weekend.

“Our parks and trails serve as a way for residents to get fresh air during this time, but we anticipate large gatherings over the holiday weekend. Therefore, we have decided to close all our parks over the weekend to continue our commitment of practicing social distancing,” said Mayor Yolanda Ford. “We understand the severity of this decision, but the health and safety of our community continues to be our top priority.”

In addition, the Quail Valley Golf Course, located at 2880 La Quinta Drive, will be also closed during these days and will reopen at 7 a.m. Monday, April 13. If individuals have reserved tee times during this period, they are encouraged to contact the Pro Shop at 281.403.5910.

“Until now, the Quail Valley Golf Course served as one of the ways for there to be some sense of normalcy during this difficult time, but it is vital that we are doing everything we can to help keep people safe,” said Interim City Manager Bill Atkinson. “This was not an easy decision for anybody to make, but we need to ensure the safety of our residents.”

The Bluebonnet Grille at the City Centre at Quail Valley will remain open for take-out food from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 10 but will be closed on Saturday, April 11 and Sunday, April 12. All special Easter Carry-Out Brunch orders will be fulfilled though.

Although, parks will be reopened on April 13, residents are advised to follow social distancing guidelines and to refrain from using playground equipment. The Recreation & Tennis Center, located at 2701 Cypress Point Drive, will remain closed until May 4.

MCTX officials and staff will continue to practice proper health guidelines as set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, such as closing City facilities to the public through April 30, and offering telecommuting opportunities to staff in accordance with stay home orders issued by the State.
