Guests will enjoy discussions with historian Sam Collins III who serves with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, The Bryan Museum, and the Ruby Bridges Foundation; and view the work of artists Ted Ellis, best known for his African-American themed art and styles which blend elements of folk art, naturalism and impressionism, and Amy Cassidy whose jewel toned pigments combined with a hard glassy resin coating create a very unique painting that is like jewelry on walls. The evening will also include food, beverages and musical entertainment provided by Regional Jazz Saxophonist, Theresa Grayson.

The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on a regular basis on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. and are open to the public. Missouri City Television rebroadcasts regular meetings on Channel 16 on Comcast Cable and on Channel 99 on U-Verse. Missouri City residence is required to be a member.

Join us for a trip to the Houston Museum of African American Culture and Buffalo Soldiers National Museum. Participants will have a chance to visit the Alton Shelvin exhibit currently featured in the Bert Long, Jr. Gallery. Learn about the Buffalo Soldiers, the historical African American military and their service throughout history.
Lunch will be at Luby’s Cafeteria after the HMAAC tour. Please bring any form of payment for your lunch.
This trip will include a moderate amount of walking and stairs.
