At their Monday, July 1 Regular Meeting, Councilmembers proclaimed the month of July as National Park and Recreation Month; appointed members to the Census Complete Count Committee; authorized the negotiation and execution of an agreement for new parks signage and authorized a police vehicles lease contract. Here is a rundown of all Council actions at the meeting:

Recognitions:

7.1.19 CC oath of office boards etcMayor Yolanda Ford administered the oath of office to new members of the City’s boards, committees and commissions.

7.1.19 CC cornerstone churchMissouri City Green presented the golden Tree Award to Cornerstone Baptist Church for their contributions toward the City’s beautification.

7.1.19 CC parks monthMayor Ford proclaimed the month of July as National Park and Recreation Month in the City of Missouri City. Parks & Recreation Director Jason Mangum and his team accepted the recognition.

Staff Reports:

Received updates from City Manager Anthony Snipes. See details below:

  • Announced that Missouri City was ranked number 13 in the top cities to live in Texas by chamberofcommerce.org, an online organization that assists with the longevity of small businesses. Learn more 
  • Announced that Wells Fargo donated $100,000 to the funding of the Veterans Memorial, which will be on the City Hall grounds.
  • Discussed Parks initiatives for Park & Recreation Month, including park prize packs, and the #GameOnJuly and #MCTXFit challenges campaigns on social media. To learn visit, www.mctxparks.com.
  • Announced non-emergency City office closures on Thursday, July 4 including City Hall, Inspections & Permits, Visitors Center, Recreation & Tennis Center, Animal Shelter and Municipal Court.
  • Noted upcoming events:
    • Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, July 4
    • Summer camp from now until Friday, Aug. 2
    • Coffee with a Cop on Wednesday, July 3
    • Senior Casino Trip to Delta Downs Casino on Tuesday, July 9
    • Car Seat Safety Check on Thursday, July 11
    • Wimbledon Social on Saturday, July 13
    • Youth Town Hall on Tuesday, July 23

Consent Agenda:

  • Approved the minutes of the Special and Regular City Council meetings of June 17, 2019. 

Appointments:

  • Appointed few members to the Census Complete Count committee.

Authorizations:

  • Authorized the execution of an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with Noresco, through which they will develop and implement certain Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) at facilities, which are owned and operated by the City.
  • Authorized the negotiation and execution of an agreement for energy retrofit project financing.
  • Authorized the negotiation and execution of a contract with Bass Construction Co. for construction and installation of permanent park signage at three City parks.
  • Approved the parkland dedication for the Shipman’s Cove subdivision.
  • Authorized a police vehicles lease contract with EAN Holdings, LLC.
  • Authorized the negotiation and execution of a contract with Fort Bend Services for the purchase of wastewater and surface water polymers.

Ordinances:

  • Authorized on the second and final reading the execution of the Tenth Amendment to the Sienna Plantation Joint Development Agreement to provide for certain modifications and to modify the Land Use Plan as applicable to Tract D to provide for additional residential structures.

Resolutions:

  • Authorized the Mayor to execute and the City Secretary to attest to an economic development agreement between the Reinvestment Zone No. 1; the City of Missouri City, Texas; and the Missouri City Development authority, pertaining to the development and construction of a veteran’s memorial and a parks maintenance facility. 

The next Regular City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m. in Council Chambers.
